Education:  A High school diploma or equivalent but those with certificates or associate's degrees are better qualified


Reflection: I think that it would be a good job to have because it would be cool to work with all the equipment that they use and would be interesting to help people see better.

Military Medical Opportunities

Duties and Responsibilities: The only duty of Military Medical people is to treat who they are told to treat. This mainly consists of soldiers but can also be used in humanitarian crises wherever they be needed.

Salary: Up to $162,320 a year

Education: Military Medical Professionals must be a  medical school graduate and receive a license to practice as a physician then they must complete a one year internship at a military hospital.



Reflection: I don’t think that I would want to be a military medical professional because it is literally like being a doctor in a war zone. Being a doctor would be hard enough but military doctors have to deal with more and often have to go out of there field and are often relocated.

Education:  Medical illustrators need a master's degree from an accredited two-year graduate program in medical illustration


Reflection: I think that this is good career choice because it in the medical profession but you do not have to do surgery or anything like that.

Licensed Practical Nurse
Duties And Responsibilities:  Licensed practical nurses provide basic nursing care under the direction of registered nurses and doctors.
 Education:  State verified programs to get a certificate or diploma and take about 1 year to complete.  In all states they also must pass the exam to get a license to work as a LVN.
Salary: $41,540 per year 


Reflection:  I don’t know if this is the job for me because nurses have to help diagnose and treat sick people and I feel like I would always be sick.

     Health Volunteer Opportunities
There are several volunteer opportunities in nearby food banks that relate to health. People need food and the food bank helps them by providing food that is will nourish them so they aren’t malnourished. There are also many medical and health volunteer opportunities in Los Angeles like Patient Escort/Transport, Information Desk positions, child development, and Recovery Room volunteers at UCLA medical center. These are available to medical students and require the volunteer to be over 16 and submit an application be accepted

Duties and Responsibilities: Oncologists are doctors who specialize in treating cancer. They lead a cancer treatment team made up of different healthcare professionals who work to provide treatment for patient’s cancer.

Education: They must have a undergraduate degree, go to medical school, and they must become licensed in their state.


Reflection: I don’t think I could be an oncologist because they have to get a lot of education. I don’t want to get a job that will stick me with a lot of debt before I start my career.

Reflection:  I think that this job would be good because it helps people and the environment at the same time. This job makes sure that people are living in an environment that is safe by making sure the quality of the air and things is according to regulation.

Reflection: I don’t want to be a veterinarian because I am not comfortable around animals and I think it would be worse if I had to operate and inspect the animals

Reflection: I don’t think I would be a good with eastern medicine because they use lots of natural medicine and I don’t like the smell of herbs because then I start getting a head ache and other things like acupuncture is something I don’t think I will ever attempt to perform.

Reflection: I think that I would be able to do this and  I think it would be a interesting career to pursue.

Duties and Responsibilities:  A dietitian advises people on what to eat or avoid in order to lead a healthy lifestyle or to achieve a specific health-related goal

Education: Dietitians and have a bachelor’s degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition. They must then to complete some supervised training and then depending on which states they are in they will have to get a state license.  




Reflection:  I don’t think that I would want to be a dietitian. I think that it would be very uninteresting to help people make diet plans that they probably won’t follow.

Reflection: I think that the quote is basically saying that in order to function at your highest capability you need to have a healthy body and mind. I think that this is true and it’s important to be healthy in your body as well as your mind.  

Dermatologist

Duties and Responsibilities:  A dermatologist treats diseases and some problems of the skin, scalp, hair, and nails.

Salary: $202469 per year

Education: To become a dermatologist someone has to get a bachelors degree and then enroll in medical school and get a degree. Then they must specialize in dermatology through an accredited program go to residency training and then pass the state exam to practice legally in there state.

 











Reflection: I think that I would not want to be a dermatologist because I think that they have to get lots of education and then they must treat skin diseases which I don’t think I could do.

Reflection: I think that I could be a dental assistant because it seems like it is easy and has good pay and it is a job helping people.

Education: Dental laboratory technicians must have a high school education or equal and training through a two-year program at a vocational school, technical college, university, or dental school












Reflection: I think that this career is something that I would like to be. I think I could do this because I think that I could make false teeth and other teeth implants without having to actually look and operate on peoples teeth the way dentist have to.

Counselor/ Psychotherapy

Duties and Responsibilities:  They must explore the thoughts, feelings, and behavior of a person for the purpose of problem solving or achieving higher levels of functioning.  Counseling/ Psychotherapy aims to increase someone’s feeling of self-worth and helps people with mental health problems.
Salary: $53,610 a year an average
Education: In order to become a counselor you need a master’s degree in something and then pass the licensing test given by the state based on your category (mental health, marriage, school, or drug). Then you must get some real life experience and then get a job.




Reflection: I think I would like to be a counselor because I like to help people and if I became a counselor I would be able to help people and it would be interesting to hear peoples stories.

Duties and Responsibilities:  A yoga therapist must help people develop muscle and bone flexibility and help people with a wide variety that can be treated with yoga.

Education: No formal training is needed but there are many different training programs that help people train for this career




Reflection: I don’t think that I could be a yoga therapist because I am no good at yoga or anything that requires lots of flexibility so I don't think I could help others be flexible if I can't do it myself.
