The Ultimate Choice
Of all choices you will ever make, one choice supersedes all others- the ultimate choice. This one choice will help you always make correct decisions. This one choice, The Ultimate Choice, is your keystone to being the best student and person you can possibly be. This one choice will forever affect you for good more than any other choice. The ultimate choice is:
To be a CTR Person – To always CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!!

Reflection: I think that this statement is true because if you choose the right all the time then you will have a good life but if you make bad choices you will have bad consequences. If is simple advice but the person has to put in the effort to always choose the right.

The Six Pillars of Character

The six pillars of character are
Trustworthiness
Respect
Responsibility
Fairness
Caring
and citizenship.

-Trustworthiness is by choosing the right and being able to be trusted because people know you don’t do bad things. You don’t steal or lie so people can trust you.

-Respect is when someone says that something is theirs and they don’t want anyone to touch it respect there decision and don’t touch it.

- Responsibility is being able to take care of a pet or doing all that is expected of you.

-Fairness is not treating others unequally. If someone does something unfair you have to be able to call them out and make a fair and unbiased decision.

-Caring is being able to be compassionate and help others if they need it and show gratitude when others help you.

-Citizenship is being a team player and doing what’s right and being a good part of your community to make it a better place.

Reflection: I think that if everyone followed the six pillars of character the world would be better and because you should be the change you want to see in the world I will always do what the six pillars of character say.

Student Success Story
“I would prefer even to fail with honor than by cheating.”
Sophocles

Reflection: I think this is true because winning fairly is more important than winning unfairly because then it might as well be a loss. An example is that instead of winning the race by cutting corners and saying you ran the whole thing it’s better to try and if you don’t win you got the experience and practice for next time.

Student Success Statement

Dare to stand alone.”

Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: What Thomas S. Monson is saying is that it better to stand-alone doing the right thing than to stand with others that are doing the wrong thing. Like JamesOn Curry who lost all his records because he joined people who were doing drugs instead of daring to stand alone.

Student Success Statement
“It’s a great moment when someone has character to step up and do the right thing at the right time.”

Pam Knox

Reflection: I think that this is correct except it you should step up and the right thing all the time not just when you think it’s the right time.

Student Success Statement
1. Treat the earth and all that dwells with therein with respect
2. Remain close to the Great Spirit
3. Show great respect to your fellow beings
4. Work together for the benefit of all mankind
5. Give assistance and kindness whenever needed
6. Do what you know to be right
7. Look after the well-being of mind and body
8. Dedicate a share of your efforts to the greater good
9. Be truthful and honest at all times
10. Take full responsibility for your actions

Reflection: I think that this shows that in general the rules are just about respect. The rules are all about respecting others, the earth, and yourself. It’s just telling people that they should feel responsible for others and themselves.

Student Success Statement
“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because there easy; you don’t make t hem because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular: you make them because there right.”
Theodore Hesburgh (Former president of Notre Dame)

Reflection: I think that this means that we have to make the right decisions not because of anything else other than they are right. We have to do what’s right because it’s right. An example would be returning something valuable to someone if they lose it without hoping they will pay for your good deed.

Student Success Statement
“It is our duty to concentrate to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound”(not good)
Joseph Smith
Reflection” I think that this is true because this means that we should help people realize that some things are bad and somethings are good. An example would be if telling people smoking is bad and telling them that it is better to do something better like volunteering and helping others. Instead of glamorizing smoking and drugs glamorize helping others.

Student Success Statement
“True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what’s right.”
Brigham Young

Reflection: I think that this is true because if everyone was good there would be freedom but often times people are not and because of it everyone suffers. If everyone decided to be good then people would not have to worry of people doing bad and be more free.

Student Success Statement
“They’re only truly great who are truly good. “
George Chapman

Reflection: I think that this means that in order to be great you have to act well. An example is you’re not going to a famous athlete is you do drugs and do bad things. Its saying that in order to be remembered as one of the greats you cannot act like terrible person or you will not be remembered.

Student Success Statement
“Many think that the short term gain will be pain, but it isn’t. In addition, using steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse in sports than a teacher. Don’t do it.”
George Mitchell

Reflection: I think that this quote is saying that it’s important to always play fairly. He is saying that in sports there is nothing like a cheater and that people should just play fairly because it makes the sport more enjoyable if the game is even. If someone is using steroids in a basketball game its not fair and it takes the other teams chances of winning.

“I won’t cheat"

Dale Murphy

Reflection: What his trying to say is that we shouldn’t cheat in anything in life, we should always choice what’s right for us .Cheating can make you a winner but not a honest winner which is the only type of winner worth being. Its saying that if you could win but have to cheat you should just lose. It means to commit yourself to be honest and to not cheat. If you have a chance to cheat in class you won't.

Student Success Statement
“It may make a difference to whether we do the right or wrong today.”
James Freeman Clark

Reflection: I think that this statement means everything we do is important. Its saying there are no small victimless crimes because we are all victims of our own actions so we act accordingly and do what’s right.

           A Good Deed

In Miami, Florida a women named Rachel Castillo returned about $36,000 in cash to its rightful owner after they left a bag full of the money on a bench at the golf course she worked at. She said that she found the money which was a year salary for her and decided that she would return the money to its rightful owner. She went to get the bag on the bench and said she found “stacks and stacks” of money in the bag and decided to do the right thing and called the police who found an ID and said the Money belonged to an old man who lived in nursing home. She said that she did what she was raised to do and said that even though she got no reward for it she believes a higher power will pay her back.
Student Success Statement
“Ask yourself is it wrong or wrong and act accordingly. “

Otto Graham Jr.

Reflection: I agree with this statement because it says what people should do. It says that people should just act the way they should. I think that this is pretty sound advice and should be followed because it is simple but the world would be different if people did it.

Student Success Story
"Only those live
 who do good.”
Count Leo Tolstoy

Reflection: I think that this is true because I think that the purpose of life is to do good. People have to be good because that is the purpose of life.

Student Success Statement
“Enthusiasm makes the difference.”
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

Reflection: I think that this statement is true because enthusiasm is an important thing to have. An example would be someone who likes math and someone who doesn’t. The person who likes math would not think much about the assignment but the person who doesn’t like it would view it as a chore they don’t want to do.

 Student Success Statement
“I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right.”
Dean Smith

Reflection:  I think that this statement shows what people admire. Without trying he left a legacy as one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time because he did the right thing and didn’t cheat like others which set him apart from other coaches. So because he was so honest and won he was given such a good legacy.

Student Success Statement

“It’s not about how to achieve your dreams. It’s about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma (destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you.”

Dr. Randy Pausch

Reflection: I think that this statement is true because it’s saying that if you lead a good life that your life will be god because if you do good the rest will take care of itself.
