Reflection: What Thomas S. Monson is saying is that it better to stand-alone doing the right thing than to stand with others that are doing the wrong thing. Like JamesOn Curry who lost all his records because he joined people who were doing drugs instead of daring to stand alone.

Reflection: This quote means that the hardest thing we have do in life is being obedient. This means that being obedience is the greatest test we will have but not the most difficult.
