Student Success Statement
“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.”
Theodore Roosevelt

Reflection: This is saying that its best thing to always do is the right thing. He is saying that the wrong thing is never better than the right thing.  If you have a choice between keeping something you found that’s someone’s else’s on the ground or turning it in it will always be best to turn it in.

Sportsmanship

The story was about a girl who played for the Western Oregon softball team who was shown a big act of sportsmanship by the other team. Sara had never hit a home run in her time playing and on the game versus Central Washington she hit her first home run ever. Then as everyone ran to home plate they saw Sara on the floor by first base. She had run to first base and tore her right knee and she couldn’t run or even walk to home plate. Her team members couldn’t help her or it wouldn’t count but then girls from the opposing team helped her because the rules said nothing about the other team helping. So two members of the opposing team carried her around the field and onto home plate where Sara had just officially hit her first homerun.

“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.”
Henry David Thoreau

Reflection: I think that this is saying that the only thing that we can invest in and get what we put in and more is goodness. An example could be not cheating on something because you invested in not cheating now you will know more than if you had cheated and that is worth a lot more.

Tallest Recorded Man Ever
The tallest man in medical history who was documented and certified was Robert Pershing Wadlow who was born in Illinois in the USA on 22 February 1918. When he last measured on June 27, 1940 he was 2.72 m (8 ft 11.1in) tall. Wadlow died 15 July 1940 in a hotel in Michigan because of a blister on his right ankle caused by a brace which had been improperly fitted.  He is the tallest man ever because no one beaten his height record yet with the tallest man living today being only 8 ft, 3 in tall.

Largest Playing Card Structure
The largest playing card structure was made by a US citizen named Bryan Berg in Macau, China on March 10, 2010 and was a replica of The Venetian Macao and  was 10.39 m (34 ft 1.05 in) long, 2.88 m (9 ft 5.39 in) tall and 3.54 m (11 ft 7.37 in) wide. The structure took him 44 days to complete and took 218,792 cards to make.

Reflection:
-I am interested in this world record because I cannot even build a small pyramid with cards so I think that this one is really incredible.
- I would want to break a world record but I would want to break one that  not bad like most tattoos but another one like tallest card stack or something cool that’s difficult.

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because there easy; you don’t make t hem because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular: you make them because there right.”
Theodore Hesburgh (Former president of Notre Dame)

Reflection: I think that this means that we have to make the right decisions not because of anything else other than they are right. We have to do what’s right because it’s right. An example would be returning something valuable to someone if they lose it without hoping they will pay for your good deed.

Student Success Statement
“It is our duty to concentrate to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound”(not good)
Joseph Smith
Reflection” I think that this is true because this means that we should help people realize that some things are bad and somethings are good. An example would be if telling people smoking is bad and telling them that it is better to do something better like volunteering and helping others. Instead of glamorizing smoking and drugs glamorize helping others.

Reflection:  I don’t think that this is a career I would want because I would be responsible for another person and they would depend on me and I’m not sure that’s the kind of pressure I want at a job.
