A Choice Poverty or Prosperity

“I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it.”

 Dr. Ben Carson

Reflection: I think that this statement is mostly true. I think that if people work hard than the can better their lives but know that sometimes it is not easy and that sometimes people are stuck.

Student Success Statement
“Enthusiasm makes the difference.”
Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

Reflection: I think that this statement is true because enthusiasm is an important thing to have. An example would be someone who likes math and someone who doesn’t. The person who likes math would not think much about the assignment but the person who doesn’t like it would view it as a chore they don’t want to do.

“I wasn’t trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do what was right.”
Dean Smith

Reflection:  I think that this statement shows what people admire. Without trying he left a legacy as one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time because he did the right thing and didn’t cheat like others which set him apart from other coaches. So because he was so honest and won he was given such a good legacy.

“Every time I’ve done something that
 doesn’t feel right, it’s ended
  up not being right. “
Marion Cuomo

Winter Break

For winter break I didn’t do much except staying at home playing video games, doing my homework, and going to the beach to build sandcastles.  While at home I would usually read a book or do homework but for Christmas we bought a new cable which was what we needed to finally get our Xbox to work and I think that I spent a little too much time playing Minecraft and not doing my homework. I also had homework over the break which wasn’t really hard and I got it done in a day but I needed to practice playing the violin because I brought it home over the break and needed lots of practice. But my favorite thing that I did was going to the beach and building sandcastles. I might have gotten in the water but over the break I was surprised at how cold the water was and didn’t get in. So I decided to build a sandcastle with my sister. I also think that a “sandcastle” brings to mind a small bucket shaped tower with a window poked in but the sandcastles we built had a base about four by four one foot high with a castle on top that was pretty cool. Whenever we left we would always see kids approaching it because we weren’t there and start jumping on it and destroying it but when we would come back there would be a small hill of sand where the castle was. But after a week it kind of got boring and we stopped building sandcastles.

“Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.”

                                  Martin Luther King Jr.

Reflection: I think that this statement is saying that an education is important but part of that education should be a character building course because it is important to.  It’s saying that you need intelligence and character not one or the other.

Reflection:  I don’t think that I would want to be a dietitian. I think that it would be very uninteresting to help people make diet plans that they probably won’t follow.
